Hello and welcome.

Leah DiGianni, LCSW
My name is Leah DiGianni and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Adelphi University’s Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies and my Masters in Social Work degree at Adelphi University’s School of Social Work.
I began my career in a Substance Use Disorder Clinic providing individual and group psychotherapy services. Following, I was hired by the Veteran’s Administration (VA) and have worked since at Northport VA Medical Center, first as an Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Social Worker, second as a Primary Therapist in our Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Residential Treatment Program, and third as a Psychotherapist at the Northport VA Medical Center’s General Mental Health Clinic. At present, I am a Psychotherapist in Northport VA Medical Center’s PTSD Clinical Team where I provide evidence-based PTSD treatment to Veterans.
I have provided therapeutic services to a wide range of populations of all ages in both group and individual therapy settings. Such populations include Veterans, Military sexual trauma survivors, sexual trauma survivors, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, college-aged adults, and the severe and persistently mentally ill (i.e., those diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder). Additionally, I have experience treating trauma and stress related disorders (i.e., acute stress disorder, PTSD, adjustment disorders), anxiety and depressive disorders, and substance use disorders.
My therapeutic approach is tailored to your unique treatment needs and goals. I have completed six months of intensive evidence-based treatment trainings in the following evidence-based manualized treatment modalities: Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) used for the treatment of PTSD, as well as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy for Depression (ACT-D) for the treatment of depression symptoms and other psychological symptoms such as anxiety that negatively impact psychological flexibility. For those whose needs are not met by the above-described treatments, my supportive therapy approach is to discuss your treatment goals and collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan that will include evidence-based skill building and traditional talk therapy. No matter what treatment you decide on, it is my job to help you become your own therapist.
You have taken a courageous step towards exploring ways to improve your life by researching Rising Unbound Psychotherapy and the services we provide. It is my hope that I can join you on your healing journey to assist you with rising unbound from your life circumstances and the symptoms you are currently struggling with.
